City Harvest School of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy

Access to Education
Kenya - Nairobi
Inspiration
Friends recently visited this school on the outskirts of a slum in Kenya. As they wrote their updates, this story resonated with me. I loved that this was an opportunity for women and men to get a skill they could use and keep them off the streets.

When I heard this school struggled to keep its doors open, something inside me stirred. I then learned that it would take US$350/month to keep the doors of this school open. It seemed so doable.

I decided to raise funds for this school to cover their fees for one year.

What
I started on Oct. 4 by writing this story on my blog and stepping out with an Ask. Friends rallied around me and also my church. One month into this venture, we have raised enough money to keep this school open for another six months. The adventure is on!
How
I wrote an article on my blog and opened a page on chipin.com Some wonderful friends came alongside me on the journey and shared the story or allowed me to share the story.
