Inspiration
I have always wanted to do service/mission trips. When I went to college I found out about a student organization that goes to third world countries to do service.
What
As a member of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) I work with communities in developing countries to develop solutions to engineering problems that the community would otherwise be unable to solve. In the community of Tacachia, Bolivia my fellow team mates and I are currently working on designing a bridge so that the children of the community will have year round access to the school across the river from them.
How
We travel to the community and discuss with them the problems they would like us to assist them with. We then do assessments on the area to see what options are available to be used and discuss those options with the community. After a suitable solution is decided on we return to school and over the course of the school year we do the design of the project. Once the designs are complete we travel to the community again and work side by side with them to construct the design that will resolve the issue.
We need donors to fund our organization. If you would like details on how to help contact me at [email protected] and put EWB in the subject.
