I have seen the healing hand of God. I have understood His reality. I have experienced His freedom. I have suffered with self-injury for 20 years. I began at the age of 8. On Dec. 5, 2009 I will celebrate my first year of freedom! My one year "birthday" - that's what it feels like... Having lived almost all my life under the hand of lies and guilt and punishment, to awaken to actual joy - to real life - is beyond words! I have been in and out of treatment alot during my 20 year illness - but it was just one moment of surrender to Christ and "it was finished". I finally met the reality of what the Cross actually meant, and I met my Saviour - my personal - this is all real and very awesome - Saviour!

In reaserching and reviewing information that is out there and available to people suffering with self-harm - i just got angry! The horrible lies and ugliness, the advice that is more of a hinderance than a help, the encouragement to continue to injure, the treatment that brainwashes patients into believing it will never go away but may get better - and so on and so on.... Very little was found about God and grace and mercy and healing and salvation and freedom.

I have seen the desprate, the lonley, the addicted, the depressed, the abused, the sick, the misunderstood, the confused, and the unsaved. From treatment centers, hospitals, emergancy rooms, group sessions, intensive thereapy, in patient and out patient.... I have seen a people thats spirit is crying out for more - for Jesus! To have a revolution there must first be an awakening! We must wake up to the realities of this nation outside of our own comforts and understanding. We have to get passed our denial and our "picture perfect" church attendee and travel outside of our "religion" and start walking - walking in faith and in love - tward the hurting. We have to love others as Christ loved us - unto death.. - anything less than everything really just isn't fair. We have to awaken to the Truth before God can set the revolution into motion.

Use your voice! Don't be kept silent! Rejoice in the freedom that God has handed to you - addictions, abuse, depression, self - injury, suicide, whatever.... Tell of the awesome things God has done for you.... Spread the Good News.

Use your voice, your talents, your rescources, the media, anything to let it be known that there is healing available and there is freedom in Christ! Let it be known that this generation will not stand for lies to be the only thing availble for those searching for answers.... To those searching - help them find the Truth - by making it available. Jesus didn't hang out with the healthy - he ate dinner with the sick - because healthy people were not the ones that needed the Great Phsycian.

We, as a culture, may now know alot about self-injury but we know enough about God. He's the Father, and are we not all His children? Shouldn't our hearts brake for all the people that brake His?
