A malleable world

Here is a little something to watch on break... when you have a spare 8 minutes 39 seconds.

"The world is more malleable than you think... and we can wrestle it from fools..." - Bono

If you have an additional spare 2 minutes, we'd love to hear your thoughts...

Re: A malleable world

I like the part when he says, Gods made me an opportunist... I think too many of us Christians, and even myself at times.. Don't really go for the dreams that Gods put in our hearts, maybe were too scared that they might be our "own human" desires... Even though most of the time, they're really God given dreams to change the world and help people... So, just encourage Christians to be brave and be adventurous!

Re: A malleable world

i agree, and i think that anything god would have you do, is perfectly matched with how he made you to be and how he has already formed and refined you.

Re: A malleable world

Thank you for posting this, I'd never seen this before. I love that Willow Creek took the time to ask Bono what his discrepancies with the church were in what I hope was an effort to bridge the man made gap between religion and actually being the hands and feet of Christ.

Re: A malleable world

God is not a "Deserving" God, why should we behave this way. It's not up to us to decide who deserves help overall or the introduction of Christ.

Re: A malleable world

This brings a lot of thought out for me, "stop asking god to bless what you're doing, instead figure out what god is doing: for it's already blessed" now one of my favourite quotes- clearly helps guide us in a direction which CAN solve some of the greatest problems. I believe what bono said in this: We CAN solve malaria, and if we live as we SHOULD we WILL solve not only these, but even deeper problems that are in our world. Christmas is in a few days people; Lets feed the world, lets fill peoples hearts with love, and souls with righteousness.

Re: A malleable world

If anyone is interested in learning more about AIDS/HIV awareness.
Age of Aids is a well made movie that helped me and my buddies understand this holocaust and why we are responsible in helping.

Also Spread the Net Campaign here in Canada(not sure if it's also in Australia) is trying to help with Malaria prevention.

thnx 4 sharing, I better brush up on Isaiah...

Re: A malleable world

i guess he has a good perspective, i mean, about the role of church in the world today. back in the time of the primitive church, they were known as people who shared everything they hadm not because they felt forced into it, but because they loved each other. in my opinion, love is really something we are missing in the world today. if we could just learn how to love, then we would be able to make not only the changes bono said, but others, and better ones.
i believe that we can only find this love once we totally surrender to Christ and accept His sacrifice, which was a love sacrifice. and then, things are going to change.

Re: A malleable world

yeah..it is so simple hey...is about the church (us) choose to mitigate judgment and just act to bring heaven on earth. I´m so glad that it is not an utopic thing. If Jesus taught us to pray it, we surely can live it.

Re: A malleable world

wow, thanks for posting this video. I always here about Bono's role in the fight against AIDS and knew a little of his heart for those people, but I am glad he was asked this question about the church. It reminded me of the Samaritan women at the well who Jesus spoke to in John 4. She had 5 husbands and was an adulterer and Jesus knew this, but instead of judgement he brought good news, and hope in Himself to her. If we could only extend that same kind of grace, realize our pride, and start living in this world God has given us with the same sacrificial love for it's people as He has...

Inspiring

Loved the interview w/ Bono & his candid commentary on the Church and challenge to strive to see "His Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven."

Re: A malleable world

wow...a challenge to all I truly believe...love how he said that in the Lords prayer - thy kingdom come...so true and so important in this world filled with heartache and poverty. Why do we want the "Pie in the Sky" when we can do something that will make this earth better. Good...good challenge now to make that part of 2010 right!

Re: A malleable world

This is a great clip and Bono is such a profetic voice. It is great to see him talking about how important change is and what is needed in our world. As christians we need to make the world right. we need to work where we are with what we have to help love people to show them something of the love we have from God and I think it is great to have people that are so sucessful showing us how to do this. Great to see and good to see people engaging in the conversation. There is some great stuff on U2 Vertigo Live from Chicago DVD as well that talks about ending poverty. It says all we need is the will and I think this needs to start in the church!

Re: A malleable world

i really like what he had to say. It is absolutely true. THe church hasn't jumped on this and we have the greatest opportunity and responsibility given to us from God to do all we can for the least of these....our equals.

Re: A malleable world

Hats off to Bono! It is the human plight that we must all address! In the Bible, it was the Samaritan who stopped to help the stranger beaten on the road, and not the members of the religious sects of the day. As we open our eyes around us, may we all do as Jesus did without the limitations that we as the church have allowed ourselves to embrace! We are free! We are the generation that has been programmed with the DNA of the living, breathing, loving, moving Word of the only, one true saving God! He will not share His glory with another!
